How do I get there?
Our guests fly into the international airport at Merida, about a one hour drive from Celestun, or into Cancun, about a four hour drive. We recommend you have a car at Playa Maya Yucatan, as there is limited taxi cab service in the town of Celestun. Mexico has an excellent and economical public bus service in and out of Celestun, Cancun and Merida, and all points in between. Playa Maya Yucatan has partnered with a car rental agency in Merida to provide long term guests (a month or more) with reliable, economical and insured vehicles. Roads are well lit and paved, with the exception of the road from Celestun to Playa Maya Yucatan, left unpaved to accommodate the sea turtle migration.
What do I do there?
Playa Maya Yucatan is a full sun and sand vacation destination with an infinity freshwater swimming pool and a glorious white sand beach on the Gulf of Mexico. Bird watchers particularly enjoy Playa Maya Yucatan’s abundant avian population. We are located in ecological reserve with protected giant sea turtle nesting sites nearby. Most of our guests cook (each villa has an equipped kitchen) or enjoy one of the authentic restaurants in Celestun. Shopping and medical facilities are in Celestun. Golfing is available in nearby Merida, and tours are offered to the ecological sites and Mayan ruins from the Celestun Tourism Centre.

Playa Maya Yucatan is a gated community of individual villas. We have 24 hour on site security, and English speaking staff. You may be as alone and private as you wish to be, but you are never isolated. Internet service is available on site, so you can stay in touch with friends and family.
Is there a land line phone service?

If you prefer, you can purchase a sim card online and have it delivered before your trip. If you do not have an unlocked mobile phone, you can purchase or rent a phone for the duration of your trip. If you plan to use an international mobile phone while in Mexico, be wary of international roaming fees, and consider purchasing a travel plan from your phone company before arriving in Mexico.
